Legendary musician and comedian Luisito Marti has died at the age of 65. He passed away at the Center for Diagnostics, Advanced Medicine, Laboratory and Telemedicine (CEDIMAT) at 7:40pm on 3 January after being admitted on Christmas Eve upon his return from Mexico. Marti, who had been fighting stomach cancer since 2007, was best known for being a member of the Johnny Ventura Combo Show where he won three gold discs (La Muerte de Martin, Te Digo Ahorita and Que Pasa Papo). He led his own band, El Sonido Original from 1978 to 1983 with several hits, winning Casandra awards, a Soberano, and several ACE awards in New York. He is also remembered for his role as Balbuena in Nueba Yol, a classic film about Dominican migration.
